Mons (prononcé /mɔ̃s/, en picard Mont, en néerlandais et allemand Bergen) est une ville francophone de Belgique située en région wallonne. Ancienne capitale des comtes de Hainaut, chef-lieu de la province de Hainaut, ville principale de l’arrondissement de Mons, elle est le siège d’une des cinq cours d’appel du pays. La population montoise est de 95 334 habitants en 2018 et son agglomération contient 258 490 habitants. Mons se situe à 60 km au sud-ouest de la capitale Bruxelles, à environ 240 km au nord-est de Paris, à 75 km à l’est de Lille et à environ 180 km à l’ouest d’Aix-la-Chapelle.

La ville de Mons est localisée au croisement des importants axes autoroutiers E19 (Amsterdam-Anvers-Bruxelles-Paris) et E42 (Lille-Charleroi-Liège-Francfort-sur-le-Main). Marquée par l’histoire et riche d’un patrimoine architectural et culturel important, Mons est depuis 2002 la capitale culturelle de la Wallonie. Mons a également été désignée le 9 février 2010 pour être capitale européenne de la culture en 2015.
