Informations

After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic was split from the Czechoslovak Army on January 1, 1993. The Slovakia joined NATO in March 2004. The army became a fully-professional organization in 2006 and mandatory military service was eliminated.

In 2021, the Slovak Armed Forces had 18,531 uniformed personnel as well as 4,208 civilians.
