The national military of Madagascar is the Madagascar Peoples Armed Forces. According to the IISS, the 2012 armed forces included an Army of 12,500, a Navy with 500 and a 500-strong Air Force.

They were also involved in the 2009 Malagasy crisis. Malagasy soldiers fought in France and Syria during World War II.
