The Eritrean Defense Forces (EDF, Tigrinya: hhaayeletaate melekxaale ’eereteraa), are the combined military forces in Eritrea. They are composed of three branches: Eritrean Navy, Eritrean Army and Eritrean Navy. The Army is the largest, followed closely by the Air Force (and Navy).

President of Eritrea is the Commander-in-Chief for the EDF. Their military role is rooted in Eritrea's strategic geographic location on the Red Sea, with a foothold at the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.
