The city's urban area has a population of 1,268,296, making it by far the most populous metropolitan area in Finland as well as the nation's most important center for politics, education, finance, culture, and research; while Tampere in the Pirkanmaa region, situated 179 kilometres (111 mi) to the north from Helsinki, is the second largest urban area in Finland. Helsinki is situated 80 kilometres (50 mi) north of Tallinn, Estonia, 400 kilometers (250 mi) east of Stockholm, Sweden, and 300 km (190 mi) west of Saint Petersburg, Russia. It has close historical ties with these 3 cities. Together with the cities of Espoo, Vantaa, and Kauniainen, and surrounding commuter cities, Helsinki creates the Greater Helsinki metropolitan area, which has a population of over 1.

From the Economist Intelligence Unit's 2016 liveability survey, Helsinki was rated ninth among 140 cities.

Culiacán, officially Culiacán Rosales, is a city in northwestern Mexico. It is the capital of and the largest city in Sinaloa and in the Culiacán Municipality. It is the most populous and extensive city in Sinaloa and was founded on September 29, 1531 by the Spanish conquerors Lázaro de Cebreros and Nuño Beltrán de Guzmán under the name of Villa de San Miguel referring to its patron saint San Miguel Arcángel. The city of Culiacán is well known for its culture, luxuries and celebrations. Its iconic sites include its historic center, Las Riberas park, the flag or better known as dancing fountains and religious temples such as its Basilica Cathedral, the Sanctuary and the Lomita.



The modern Tres Ríos district is known for its buildings, squares, hotels, parks, restaurants, schools, etc. The city is located in a valley on the slopes of the Sierra Madre Occidental at the confluence of the Tamazula and Humaya rivers, where the two join to form the Culiacán River, 55 m above sea level. The first outline of the city was made by the architect Luis F. Molina.
