Budapest also became the co-capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, a great power that dissolved in 1918, following World War I. Caracas is located across the Guaire River at the northern portion of the country, within the Caracas Valley of the Venezuelan coastal mountain range (Cordillera de la Costa).
