Informations

The Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts Center at Sydney Harbour in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

It is among the 20th century's most famous and distinctive buildings.Designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, but completed by an Australian architectural group headed up by Peter Hall, the building was officially opened on 20 October 1973 after a gestation beginning with Utzon's 1957 choice as winner of an international design competition. The Government of New South Wales, led by the premier, Joseph Cahill, authorised work to start in 1958 with Utzon directing construction. The government's decision to construct Utzon's design is often overshadowed by conditions that followed, including cost and scheduling overruns as well as the architect's ultimate resignation. The building and its surrounds occupy all of Bennelong Point on Sydney Harbour, between Sydney Cove and Farm Cove, adjacent to the Sydney central business district and the Royal Botanic Gardens, and close by the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The construction comprises multiple performance venues, which together host well over 1,500 performances annually, attended by over 1.

2 million people. Performances are presented by numerous performing artists, including three resident companies: Opera Australia, the Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. As one of the most popular visitor attractions in Australia, the website is visited by over eight million people annually, and approximately 350,000 visitors take a guided tour of the building each year. The building is managed by the Sydney Opera House Trust, an agency of the New South Wales State Government. On 28 June 2007, the Sydney Opera House became a UNESCO World Heritage Site, having been listed on the (now defunct) Register of the National Estate since 1980, the National Trust of Australia register since 1983, the City of Sydney Heritage Inventory since 2000, the New South Wales State Heritage Register since 2003, and the Australian National Heritage List as 2005. Moreover, the Opera House was a finalist at the New7Wonders of Earth campaign list.

Informations

The Trump International Hotel and Tower is a skyscraper condo-hotel in downtown Chicago, Illinois.

The building, called for businessman and later U.S. president Donald Trump, was designed by architect Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Bovis Lend Lease constructed the 98-story structure, which reaches a height of 1,388 ft (423.2 m) including its spire, its roof topping out at 1,171 ft (357 m). It's next to the main branch of the Chicago River, with a view of the entrance to Lake Michigan past a series of bridges across the river. The building received publicity once the winner of the first season of The Apprentice reality television show, Bill Rancic, chose to handle the construction of the tower over handling a new Trump National Golf Course and resort in Los Angeles. Trump announced in 2001 that the skyscraper would become the tallest building in the world, but following the September 11 attacks that same year, the architects scaled back the building's plans, and its design underwent several revisions. When topped out in 2009, it turned into the second-tallest construction in the U.S.. It surpassed the city's John Hancock Center as the construction with the maximum residence (apartment or condominium ) in the world, and held this title until the conclusion of the Burj Khalifa. The design of the building includes, from the bottom up, retail space, a parking garage, a hotel and condominiums. The 339-room hotel opened for business with limited accommodations and services on January 30, 2008, then full lodging and services on April 28. The construction topped out in late 2008 and construction was finished in 2009. Sixteen was one of five restaurants in Chicago with a Michelin Guide two-star evaluation in 2016 and one of three five-star Forbes-rated restaurants in town until it closed in 2018. The spa is one of six with a four-star Forbes score in the Chicago area in 2015.
