Pskow (russisch Псков, deutsch historisch auch Pleskau, Pleskow, estnisch Pihkva, lettisch Pleskava) ist eine Großstadt im Nordwesten Russlands mit 203.279 Einwohnern (Stand 14. Oktober 2010), etwa 290 km südwestlich von Sankt Petersburg und nahe der Grenze zu Estland. Die Stadt ist Hauptstadt der Oblast Pskow und ist eine der ältesten Städte Russlands. Früher war sie eine mächtige Grenzfestung und Hauptstadt einer unabhängigen mittelalterlichen Republik, heute ist sie eine bedeutende Industriestadt.

Im Jahr 903 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt, gewann die Stadt im 15. Jahrhundert hohe Bedeutung auf dem Gebiet der Baukunst und der Ikonenmalerei, im 16. Jahrhundert wurde sie Bischofssitz und blieb bis ins 19. Jahrhundert religiöses Zentrum für die Region.
