Ankara [ˈaŋkara], früher Angora (antiker Name altgriechisch Ἄγκυρα Ankyra, lateinisch Ancyra), ist seit 1923 die Hauptstadt der Türkei und der gleichnamigen Provinz Ankara. Die Stadt, die nach türkischem Recht als Großstadtgemeinde (Büyükşehir Belediyesi) verfasst und nunmehr flächen- und einwohnermäßig mit der gleichnamigen Provinz identisch ist, hatte 2021 etwa 5,7 Millionen Einwohner und ist damit nach Istanbul die zweitgrößte Stadt des Landes.
